LSU senior linebacker and team captain Whit Weeks has returned to practice on a limited basis this week and has a chance to play against Alabama on Saturday. But that is doubtful, according to LSU’s injury/availability report released by the Southeastern Conference on Wednesday night.
Weeks has not played since the third quarter against Texas A&M on Sept. 26 when he broke his fibula bone between his knee and ankle. He had surgery after that and has missed the Tigers’ last four games. Injury status reports will continue on Weeks via the SEC Thursday through Saturday. He could be upgraded to questionable or downgraded to out.
Weeks’ younger brother Zach Weeks, a redshirt freshman linebacker, is listed as questionable. And LSU freshman defensive tackle Richard Anderson is listed as out.
The No. 14 Tigers (6-2, 3-2 SEC) and No. 5 Alabama (6-2, 4-2 SEC) kick off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC.
Alabama has significantly more injuries than LSU. The Crimson Tide has five starters listed as questionable – center Racin Delgatty (knee), wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams (knee), offensive guard William Sanders (ankle), cornerback Zabien Brown (lower leg) and defensive lineman Terrance Green (ankle).
Delgatty, Coleman-Williams and Green have missed Alabama’s last two games. Brown did not play in Alabama’s last game against Texas A&M, and Sanders was hurt in the win over A&M.
Backup running backs EJ Crowell (lower leg) and AK Dear (ankle) are also questionable.
