New LSU football coach Lane Kiffin has tweeted.
On Friday afternoon, just eight days before he and his No. 11 Tigers open the 2026 season against No. 23 Clemson in Tiger Stadium (6:30 p.m., ABC), Kiffin tweeted for the first time since May 11. That’s when he suddenly stopped after a cover story on him appeared on the same day in Vanity Fair magazine that included controversial comments by him about his previous head coaching job at Ole Miss from 2020-25.
Kiffin said he quit tweeting because his son Knox, the starting quarterback at University High on the LSU campus, challenged him to do so.
Kiffin tweeted on Friday about the new “Fansville” commercial he appears in for Dr. Pepper.

Kiffin is pulled over by the sheriff of the fictional town of “Fansville” in the commercial and says, “Not really known for following the rules.”
Meanwhile, Kiffin is embroiled in a controversial feud over the eligiblity of NFL players in which he is not following the rules, according to Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey.

But judges and attorneys involved in an eligibility lawsuit by players now committed to Kiffin against the NCAA – and by definition the SEC – see it differently. One attorney says Sankey is not following the rules and could be contempt of court.
