One won’t be able to tell all the new wide receivers without a depth chart on Saturday night when the No. 11 Tigers open the 2026 season against No. 23 Clemson in Tiger Stadium (6:30 p.m., ABC).
New LSU football coach Lane Kiffin’s rebuild of the Tigers began in January as he signed the No. 1 Transfer Portal class in the country with 41 new additions.
Three more were added over the last 10 days via the various lawsuits versus the NCAA and the Southeastern Conferece that freed up members of the class of 2022 in all sports, pending a hearing Thursday. Those were edge Junior Tuihalamaka from Notre Dame, tight end Dae’Quan Wright from the Cleveland Browns (after being released) and Ole Miss and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris from the New Orleans Saints (after being released) and Ole Miss for a total of 44.

The most dramatic facelift was at wide receiver, where Kiffin signed no less than nine portal players – one more than for his offensive line restructuring. The only returning wide receiver is redshirt freshman Phillip Wright III of Destrehan High after one catch last season. He has been working with the second team as has true freshman Corey Barber of Trussville, Alabama.
Following the Tigers’ final week of camp last week after a scrimmage on Aug. 22 and a “pre-season game” dress rehearsal on Saturday, it appears that the top four wide receivers remain senior Jayce Brown of Kansas State, redshirt junior Jackson Harris of Hawaii, sophomore Winston “Winnie” Watkins of Ole Miss and redshirt junior Eugene “Tre” Wilson III of Florida.
Wilson signed with LSU as the No. 58 player in the portal and No. 16 wide receiver and has been impressive since the spring. You will likely see his No. 3 often Saturday night.
TIGER RAG SCOUTING REPORT: Dynamic veteran receiver capable of creating separation and yards after the catch from multiple alignments. A four-star prospectd out of Gaither High in Tampa, he struggled with injuries at Florida, but has impressive potential potential when healthy.
