TIGER RAG NEWS SERVICES
Redshirt freshman offensive tackle Darrin Strey followed offensive line coach Eric Wolford from Kentucky to LSU.
Strey (6-foot-7, 314 pounds) is part of the youth section of LSU coach Lane Kiffin’s 41-man transfer portal class. Strey, 19, was a four-star prospect at Paw Paw High in Paw Paw, Michigan, and was the No. 41 offensive tackle in 247sports.com’s transfer portal ranking.
He played just 20 snaps at right tackle as a true freshman but his size gives LSU depth and competition in the tackle room. Strey is not projected to start this season but has an SEC-ready build to step in if necessary, and he could be a future option at the position if he can continue to develop his quickness, footwork and flexibility under Wolford.
TIGER RAG SCOUTING REPORT: Strey is a prototypical offensive tackle frame with exceptional reach. Four-star high schooler with SEC starting upside and a valuable depth option.
