LSU tight end Trey’Dez Green apparently has regressed concerning his knee injury.

Green, who returned to action on Oct. 24 at Auburn after suffering a knee injury on Sept. 19 at Ole Miss, was listed as questionable for Saturday’s Alabama game on LSU’s injury report to the Southeastern Conference office for its availability report released on Friday. He had not appeared on the two previous availability reports by the SEC.

Green caught five passes for 50 yards with a touchdown in the Tigers’ 38-17 win at Auburn on Oct. 24, but was not at 100 percent. He was thought to be nearing 100 percent as LSU had an open date last weekend.

No. 14 LSU (6-2, 3-2 SEC) hosts No. 5 Alabama (6-2, 4-2 SEC) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC. Green is considered the best tight end in college football or close to it as he is a mismatch nightmare for defenses at 6-foot-7 and 240 pounds and is also a dominant blocker.

“I feel ready to go. I feel amazing,” Green said during player interviews on Tuesday when asked about his recovery from the knee injury.

The junior from Zachary High has caught 19 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns in four games.

“He’s kind of like a safety blanket out there,” LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt said. “He’s such a big target. I threw him a crosser during the (Auburn) game, and I felt like I kind of missed him a little bit. And he just snagged it, and it looked so easy for him. And I was like, ‘Hmm.’ It’s pretty nice. He’s got a pretty wide target right there. He’s incredible. He’s a grinder and has that look in his eyes, ‘Hey, give me the ball.’ You want to give him the ball. He’s going to make a play. He’s really hard to tackle.”

LSU starting senior linebacker and captain Whit Weeks remained doubtful on Friday as he tries to return to action for the first time since the Texas A&M game on Sept. 26 when he broke the fibula bone in his leg and had surgery.

Three Alabama starters were upgraded from questionable to probable on Friday – center Racin Delgatty (knee), wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams (knee) and defensive tackle Terrance Green (ankle).

Two starters remain questionable – offensive guard William Sanders (ankle) and cornerback Zabien Brown (lower leg). Backup running back EJ Crowell (lower leg) also remains questionable.
