Former LSU basketball star guard Jordy Hultberg, a veteran LSU, SEC and NBA announcer, is the new LSU basketball color analyst on the LSU Radio Network.
Hultberg will make his debut tonight when the Tigers host Central Florida in an exhibition game at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center at 7 p.m.
Hultberg was a vital cog in the turnaround of LSU basketball from 1976-80 under coach Dale Brown as a long-range, shooting guard. He helped lead the Tigers to their first NCAA Tournament since 1954 in the 1978-79 season when the Tigers reached the Sweet 16 and finished 23-6 and as 14-4 Southeastern Conference champions – LSU’s first SEC regular season title also since 1954.
A year later, Hultberg and the Tigers reached the Elite Eight with a 26-6 overall record in the 1979-80 season along with the program’s last SEC Tournament title and a second place finish in the SEC regular season.
Hultberg was then an assistant coach under Brown from 1980-83. He went on to be an announcer on LSU’s pay-per-view TigerVision network in the 1980s and later was an analyst for SEC basketball games as well as LSU games on the LSU Radio Network and with the New Orleans Pelicans. He also wrote a column for Tiger Rag in the mid-1980s.
Hultberg signed with LSU before the 1976-77 season after a stellar career at De La Salle High in New Orleans.
Hultberg replaces former LSU coach John Brady, who had been the LSU Radio Network color analyst from the 2017-18 season through 2025-26 season. Brady left that position recently to become senior advisor for men’s basketball at LSU-New Orleans.
“I’m thrilled and honored to be the color analyst for LSU basketball this season, working with Chris Blair (the Voice of LSU athletics),” Hultberg told Tiger Rag before Wednesday night’s game. “I wanted the best seat in the house when Will Wade gets this program back to the glory days.”
Wade makes his Pete Maravich Asssembly Center return debut against Central Florida. Wade was previously the coach from 2017-22.
Hultberg hosts a daily radio show in Lafayette on KLWB-FM 103.7.
