In honor of former LSU baseball coach and athletic director Skip Bertman, Tiger Rag presents the “On Base With Skip Bertman” podcast from the 2025 baseball season.

LSU Baseball Master Legend Skip Bertman Passes Away

Bertman passed away early Friday at age 88. As you can tell from this video, Bertman still could talk baseball with the best of them and sounds as knowledgeable of the game as he did when he was coaching from 1984-2001 with the Tigers, whom he directed to five national championships in 1991, ’93, ’96, ’97 and 2000. He raves about LSU pitching in this podcast.

And the Tigers went on to win the national title in that 2025 season with top starters Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson for coach Jay Johnson’s second crown at LSU. Bertman and former LSU pitcher Trey Hodges also discuss the 2000 national title, which was Bertman’s last as coach with Hodges winning MVP.
