The LSU football team returns to Kentucky for just the third time on Saturday after its famous, 33-30 win on Nov. 9, 2002, on a play dubbed the “Bluegrass Miracle.”

On the last play of the game and the Tigers trailing 30-27, LSU quarterback Marcus Randall threw as far as he could, and a multi-tipped pass by Kentucky defenders landed in the hands of Tigers wide receiver Devery Henderson. And Henderson sprinted the rest of the way for a 74-yard touchdown, and LSU and coach Nick Saban won 33-30.

The man who made that call on the Jefferson-Pilot television broadcast of that game – Dave Neal – will be on Tiger Rag Radio tonight at 7:30 p.m. Neal, who is a play-by-play man for ESPN now and was at the LSU-McNeese State game on Saturday, will discuss the famous play and what he thinks of the Tigers.

No. 10 LSU (4-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) plays at No. 25 Kentucky (4-1, 2-1 SEC) on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN).

LSU has not won at Kentucky since the “Bluegrass Miracle,” losing 43-37 in three overtimes on Oct. 13, 2007, and falling, 42-21, on Oct. 9, 2021.
