LSU lands 2020 commitment from PG Jalen Cook

LSU basketball coach Will Wade may not be done with his 2019 recruiting class yet, but that didn’t keep him from getting started on his 2020 class.

Walker product and Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year Jalen Cook became the first 2020 prospect to commit to the Tigers when he announced his decision Tuesday evening.

Cook emerged as the top point guard prospect in the state of Louisiana as a junior was he averaged 29.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.8 steals as he led the Wildcats to the Louisiana High School Athletics Association Class 5A Finals.

247Sports lists the 6-foot, 180-pound point guard as the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Louisiana and the No. 22 point guard in the country.

He also had offers from Wichita State, Georgetown, Houston and Southern Miss and Tulane. He also had offers as a three-star wide receiver from multiple Division I universities.
