Four-star defensive tackle Siaki Ika picks LSU

LSU kicked off the Early Signing Period with a bit of good news.

Four-star defensive tackle Siaki Ika will sign with LSU, Ika announced at a commitment ceremony at East High School on Wednesday morning. Ika is the top player in the state of Utah and the No. 11 defensive tackle in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

LSU closed strong to secure a signature from Ika after having him on campus for an official visit back in October. Oregon, Utah, Florida and USC were the other schools that made Ika’s top five before he chose the Tigers.

The addition comes at a definite position of need as LSU looks to continue bolstering its talent levels in the trenches. Joseph Evans, a three-star prospect from Haynesville, it currently the only other defensive lineman in LSU’s 2019 class.

LSU began the day with 19 commitments, 18 of which are expected to sign during the Early Signing Period. Landing Ika bumps that commitment count back up to 20.
