LSU basketball coach Will Wade is no stranger to controversy, and he has faced plenty of it before his first season back in Baton Rouge has even tipped off. Wade and the Tigers open the 2026-2027 season on Tuesday against LSU New Orleans (7 p.m., SEC Network+), and they will do so with a completely new roster that features power conference transfers, former international pros and fifth-year seniors. After former NBA signee RJ Luis received a temporary injunction to block the Southeastern Conference’s punishment for signing players who signed pro deals, it could re-open the door to his controversial recruitment, and LSU is still working toward an eligibility waiver for 24-year-old Israeli center Gilad Levy.
Wade spoke with local reporters on Thursday to break down the one-of-a-kind roster and preview the upcoming season.
