Ryleigh Knaub And Edit Hertzman Pace LSU With Top-5 Finishes At ULM Invitational

LSU freshman Ryleigh Knaub posted her second top five finish of the season Tuesday in the ULM Invitational at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club of Monroe, Louisiana.

Knaub posted rounds of 69-69-69 to complete 54 holes at 9-under par 207 around the par 72, 6,194-yard venue to finish in a tie for third in the event. She earlier posted a fourth-place finish in her last start, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate earlier in March.

Ironically, in that event she posted three straight rounds of 70 on the par 71 course in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Knaub had four birdies in her round on Tuesday and finished the tournament with a combined 14 birdies, which was fourth in the field.

LSU senior Edit Hertzman also had a good event, finishing solo fifth, highlighted by a six-birdie round of 4-under 68. It was Hertzman’s first top five of the season.

Hertzman finished at 4-under par 212 on rounds of 71-73-68.

Samford’s Gabi Nicastro came around the early round leaders to get the individual win after a final round of 10-under 62 that put her at 13-under 203 for the tournament. She had rounds of 74-67-62. Johanna Sjursen of ULM was second at 11-under 205 (64-70-71) and Anna Andrysova of the host Warhawks tied for third with Knaub at 9-under 207 (71-71-65).

LSU sophomore Josefin Widal, after some struggles on Monday, came back on Tuesday to shot a 4-under 68 with eight birdies to move up 33 spots to a T36 finish at 12-over 228 (82-78-68).

Statistically, Hertzman was T2 in the field on par 3 holes at 2.92, while Knaub was T4 on par 4s at 3.87 and T2 in the field at 4.58 on par 5 holes. Hertzman was T6 overall with 12 birdies and Widal ninth with 11.

The LSU team gets back in action at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida for the Southeastern Conference Championships starting on April 17.
