LSU’s Norris takes NCAA lead in hammer throw

Tempe, Ariz. – LSU’s Jake Norris was the top collegiate finisher in the hammer throw 223 feet, one inch to finish second in the competition behind professional Adam Keenan, highlighting the first day of competition at Arizona State’s Baldy Castillo Invitational at Sun Angel Stadium.

The mark is an early outdoor NCAA lead for Norris.

In the women’s 200 meter dash, the LSU sprinters had four of the top six spots.

Leah Phillips (23.33) and Alia Armstrong (23.34) sprinted to a two-three finish with personal bests; Amber Anning (23.51) and Tionna Beard-Brown (23.66) finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively.

Amber Hart began the outdoor season for LSU with a bronze showing in the discus a throw of 168-8.

The final two podium placings of the day came from

Steeplechasers Garrett Hamilton and Will Dart went 2-3 with Hamilton turning in a PR (9:12.74) for second, and Dart placed third (9:13.02). Cade Martin notched a personal best with a time of 9:21.71 for fourth place.

The duo of Da’Marcus Fleming (21.00) and Dorian Camel (21.03) secured the fifth and sixth positions in the men’s 200, while Ronnie Rounds’ best clearance of 6-8 3/4 in the high jump earned him sixth.

Day two of the Baldy Castillo Invitational will commence on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT with Morgan Smalls, Serena Bolden, and Kyndal McKnight competing in the women’s long jump.

With sanctions coming, probation np doubt, the draft, transfer portal, players leaving, a defense that gives away too many easy baskets, recruits de-committing, Pinson playing like he was a freshman, dribble, dribble, no movement, open shots, no one within 15 ft of the shooter.LSU stunk in it,s final game for 2022! That’s the facts! Terrible! Hpefully Woodward can bring in an excellent coach!
