LSU Soccer: Tigers Beat Florida On The Road To Snap 0-3-1 Skid And Take 1st SEC Match

The LSU soccer team won 2-1 at Florida on Friday night for its first Southeastern Conference win and end a streak of four matches without a win, including three losses.

Senior forward Ava Galligan scored two goals for the Tigers (3-8-2, 1-3-1 SEC). Linka Ono provided the assist on Galligan’s first goal for a 1-1 tie at halftime. Galligan struck again early in the second half, scoring in the 52nd minute off an assist from Sariyah Bailey to give LSU the 2-1 advantage. It was Galligan’s sixth goal of the season.

Florida (5-4-3, 1-2-2 SEC) applied pressure throughout the remainder of the match, but LSU goalkeeper Audur Scheving came up with several key saves to preserve the lead. Scheving finished with seven saves, including six in the second half.

The Gators held an 18-6 advantage in total shots and an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Florida also earned 10 corner kicks compared to three for LSU, but the Tigers held the Gators scoreless over the final 45 minutes.

Galligan led LSU with three shots, including two on target, while Brielyn Knowles added two shots.

LSU hosts Arkansas on Friday at 7 p.m.
