Attorney General Liz Murrill To Be On Tiger Rag Radio Tonight To Discuss LSU And SEC Lawsuits

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, who was named on Tuesday as a defendant in the Southeastern Conference’s amended lawsuit against LSU and head football coach Lane Kiffin for an “orchestrated campaign” to recruit NFL players, will appear on statewide Tiger Rag Radio on Tuesday night.

The show airs from 6 to 8 p.m. with Murrill scheduled to appear at 7:30 p.m. with hosts Jeff Palermo of Louisiana Radio Network and Todd Horne and Glenn Guilbeau of Tiger Rag with producer Kace Kieschnick.

SEC Amends LSU Lawsuit Seeking Authority To Expel School From Conference

The SEC has accused LSU and Kiffin of a “deliberate and coordinated campaign” to bring players to LSU from NFL training camps. The SEC alleges that LSU contacted NFL players or their representatives for the purpose of getting them to sue the NCAA and then return to college football. But the conference cites no firsthand evidence proving that allegation in the lawsuit.

Murrill, an LSU graduate, called the lawsuit “garbage” in an interview last week.

“The SEC may possess contractual authority to establish standards. A La. Court possesses judicial authority to decide if those standards produce unlawful results.”

“This is about power and the fact that their power and their rules have been challenged,” Murrill told Tiger Rag last Thursday. “And they don’t like it. It’s that simple.”

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey continued to strut his power – perceived or otherwise – on Tuesday via the amended lawsuit against LSU. And the conference has called a Thursday meeting to “decide whether to terminate LSU as an SEC member.

The SEC is now accusing LSU of a “lack of institutional control” from LSU president Wade Rousse and athletic director Verge Ausberry for an inability to show any effective administrative authority over Kiffin. Rousse and Ausberry are named as defendants along with Murrill and LSU Board of Supervisors chairman Lee Mallett.

Under SEC rules, at least 11 presidents must vote in favor of termination in order for a school to be expelled from the 16-member conference.
