Arden Key declares for the NFL Draft

File this one under “as expected.”

LSU edge rusher Arden Key declared for the NFL Draft via a tweet on Thursday morning. Key, a projected first-round draft pick, didn’t practice or play with the team in a 21-17 loss to Notre Dame in the Citrus Bowl.

Scouts and prognosticators project Key will be taken in the first half of round one despite a bumpy and at times injury-riddled junior season. He missed the start of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery and dealt with injuries to his knee and pinky finger late in the season.

Key finished his final collegiate season with 33 tackles and four sacks in eight games played after setting an LSU single-season record with 12 sacks during his All-American sophomore campaign.
