LSU 2023 national champion Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream came up short in a 67-62 loss to the Golden State Valkyries in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Saturday.
Reese struggled to find the bottom of the net, finishing the game 2-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line for eight points. She grabbed nine rebounds, blocked three shots, had three assists and made one steal but also recorded six turnovers. It was her first game of the finals without a double-double and her lowest point total of the postseason.
The Valkyries jumped out to a 42-26 lead at halftime behind a 26-point second quarter. The Dream fought back in the second half, outscoring Golden State 19-12 in the third and 17-13 in the fourth, but two missed threes on the game’s final possession stifled any hopes of a last-second comeback.
The Golden State win ties the series at 2-2. The teams will return to San Francisco for Game 5 in the Chase Center on Monday (5 p.m.).
