LSU preseason All-American tight end Trey’Dez Green is expected to miss his third straight game on Saturday at Kentucky with a knee injury, but he is improving.

Green, who caught 14 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown in four games before the injury at Ole Miss on Sept. 19, recently had a knee brace removed. But a targeted game return has not been set yet.

“No, but if there’s anybody who’s going to come back sooner than what people thought it would be, it would be him,” LSU coach Lane Kiffin said at his weekly press conference on Monday.

“So, he’s out of the brace, moving it. So, getting closer,” Kiffin said.

Kiffin did not update LSU starting linebacker Whit Weeks’ injury. Weeks had surgery on his broken fibula last week and has a chance to return late in the season, likely after Green.

“Hopefully, Whit and Trey’Dez will be back at some point, and that will make us feel a lot better,” Kiffin said. “Not just because they’re great, All-American players. You know they were the number sevens for a reason. They’re dynamic leaders on the field.”

No. 10 LSU (4-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) plays at No. 25 Kentucky (4-1, 2-1 SEC) at 6 p.m. Saturday on ESPN.
