Former LSU Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels was ruled out for the second straight week as he recovers from a dislocated left elbow he suffered during the Commanders’ Week 1 loss to the Cowboys. Washington is taking on the Colts in London on Sunday (8:30 a.m.).

“Typical for him, he’s more ready than you expect,” Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said on Friday. “That’s just kind of how he is, but we’ll get the whole week for him and get back at it.”

Despite his inactive status on Sunday, Daniels did return to practice this week.

“He had a great week. It was awesome to have him back on the field in a limited fashion,” commanders head coach Dan Quinn said on Friday.

Daniels decided not to undergo potentially season-ending surgery on the elbow he has now injured three times – he was sidelined four weeks after dislocating it last season, and his year was cut short after aggravating the injury. He was not placed on injured reserve and reportedly aims to return to action as soon as possible wearing a brace on his left arm.

“We’ll see where we are next week, when he gets a full week of practice all the way through,” Quinn said. “But, typical of him, he was working very hard to get back, doing everything he can behind the scenes to do that as fast as he can. He is a true competitor on and off the field.”

His next opportunity to come back will be in Week 5 when Washington hosts the Giants.
