Add another key LSU defensive player to the injured list.
Starting junior safety Tamarcus Cooley was listed as questionable going into Saturday’s game between No. 10 LSU (2-1, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) and No. 23 Texas A&M (2-1, 0-1 SEC) in Tiger Stadium (6:30 p.m., ABC), according to LSU’s availability report released by the SEC office on Wednesday night.
Cooley had five tackles with a pass breakup in LSU’s 32-24 loss at Ole Miss on Saturday night. He has seven tackles on the season with two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. Cooley played some snaps at the Tigers’ star position when starting star Dashawn Spears injured his knee in the second quarter. Spears has been lost for the season.
LSU backup cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson, who intercepted Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, was listed as doubtful for the game on Saturday. He has three tackles on the season with a pass breakup and the interception.
Listed as out as expected were Spears, starting tight end Trey’Dez Green, who also has a knee injury but is expected back in a few weeks or less, and backup wide receiver Phillip Wright III, who is out for the season.
Texas A&M listed starting wide receiver and kick returner Terry Bussey out for the game. Aggies’ coach Mike Elko previously said Bussey was out of the season with a lower leg injury suffered in the Aggies’ 31-21 home loss to Kentucky on Saturday. Bussey had seven catches on the season for 92 yards with three kickoff returns for 43 yards and two punt returns for 32 yards.
Backup running back Jamarion Morrow, who has 56 yards on 16 carries in two games, is questionable as is wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roma, who has two receptions for 13 yards in two games.
