Former LSU safety Jamal Adams’ bad luck with injuries has continued.
Adams, the first team All-American and All-Southeastern Conference player at LSU in 2016, suffered a season-ending right knee injury in Minnesota’s 13-10 win at the New York Giants on Saturday night. He had just signed shortly before training camp with Minnesota – his sixth team since the New York Jets drafted him with the sixth pick of the first round in 2017 out of LSU.
“I’m crushed, and we’re going to miss him,” Minnesota coach Kevin O’Connell said.
JAMAL ADAMS WILL PLAY HIS 10TH NFL SEASON WITH MINNESOTA
Adams, 30, played 17 games as a linebacker with the Las Vegas Raiders last season. Minnesota signed him as a linebacker for this season, but soon moved him to safety and switched him from number 54 to 32. He came in as a second team safety in the game Saturday night and suffered the injury in pass coverage without contact. He fell to the ground, rolled over and clutched his right knee before being carted off the field.
Because of various injuries, Adams played in only five games in the 2024 season with Tennessee, nine in 2023 with Seattle and one in 2022 with Seattle.
Adams signed with LSU in 2014 from Hebron High in Carrollton, Texas. He was a freshman All-American in the 2014 season.
