This is Tiger Rag Radio live from the Super Chevy Dealers Studio.
Opening Segment
Good evening. Welcome to Tiger Rag Radio. This is Glenn Guilbeau, Tiger Rag editor, with Tiger Rag Executive Editor Todd Horne and producer Andre Champagne.
Jeff Palermo is doing the LSU–McNeese State baseball game tonight, which has its first pitch at 6:30 at Alex Box Stadium, so he’s not going to be with us. Jeff did a great job over the weekend at the Jax College Baseball Classic, where the Tigers ripped through Notre Dame, Indiana, and UCF.
We’re going to talk to John Eads in just a second. John was at that tournament in Jacksonville, Florida.
When Glenn says Jeff’s doing the baseball, he’s announcing the game — doing play-by-play. He did play-by-play all three games in Jacksonville and did a great job filling in for Chris Blair, who was doing basketball.
LSU basketball plays Ole Miss. LSU is currently in last place in the SEC at 2–12, and Ole Miss is tied for second to last at 3–11. LSU will have a chance to win that game.
Tonight’s guests include:
- Scott Rabalais at 6:30 — he was also in Jacksonville and will talk gymnastics.
- Mike Detillier at 7:00 — draft expert from WWL Radio to discuss LSU players at the NFL Combine.
- Reed Darcy at 7:30 — to talk LSU women’s basketball.
Baseball Discussion with John Eades
John Eads joined from Alex Box Stadium.
John shared impressions of LSU’s dominant performance in Jacksonville. LSU showed patience at the plate and offensive depth. The lineup is deep with no real breaks, and they consistently work pitchers into long at-bats.
The Tigers walked 15 times against Notre Dame — near a program record. The offense is deeper than last year and allows the pitching staff some margin for error.
On pitching:
- Casan Evans, Cooper Moore, and William Schmidt have looked solid.
- The bullpen is deep, featuring Devin Sheeran, Ethan Poteet, Maverick Rizzi, and Gavin Guidry.
- LSU doesn’t necessarily need dominant starting pitching every night because the offense is so potent.
LSU entered the McNeese game 8–0.
Schedule Overview
Upcoming schedule:
- McNeese State
- Dartmouth
- Northeastern
- UL
- Sacramento State
- Creighton
- Vanderbilt (first SEC series)
There’s discussion about whether LSU’s pitching will hold up once SEC play begins, but there’s optimism due to depth and offense.
LSU Gymnastics
LSU (No. 2) lost to No. 1 Oklahoma, 198.125 to 197.925 — LSU’s highest road score of the season.
Sophomore Kailin Chio scored two perfect 10s (Beam and Vault), becoming the first gymnast in the country this season to do so in one meet.
Scott Rabalais joined to discuss:
- The LSU–Oklahoma rivalry
- Injury updates on Konnor McClain and Kaliya Lincoln
- Upcoming meet vs. No. 3 Alabama
- SEC dominance in gymnastics
LSU remains a national championship contender.
LSU Football & Lane Kiffin
Discussion turned to LSU football and Lane Kiffin’s impact.
There’s tremendous excitement around the program, with strong ticket sales and high expectations. The offense is expected to improve significantly.
