Practice Report: Two defensive backs return, a pair of newcomers were absent and a glimpse at the QB pecking order

LSU hit the practice field in full pads on Tuesday afternoon for a spirited workout. Here’s some observations, notes and videos from the 20 minutes or so of individual drills that were made open to reporters:

  • Safety Grant Delpit practiced in full after missing time last week due to an undisclosed injury. LSU coach Ed Orgeron said last week that the rising sophomore may miss a week or two, but it seems he made a rather speedy recovery.
  • Cornerback Kristian Fulton was also a full participant in practice, though that doesn’t mean much for his quest to regain eligibility for the 2018 season.
  • Wide receiver Jonathan Giles and offensive lineman Damien Lewis were absent from the media viewing portion of practices. Per usual, all absences should be taken with a grain or 12 of salt considering the season opener remains months away.
  • Tight end Thad Moss appears to have changed his number from 82 to 81, which is the digits his Hall-of-Fame father Randy wore with the New England Patriots back in the day.
  • The following players practiced in gold non-contact jerseys: Austin Deculus, Michael Divinity, Glen Logan and Lanard Fournette.
  • The pecking order for quarterbacks during individual drills was as follows: Myles Brennan, Justin McMillan, Lowell Narcisse and Andre Sale.
