Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley: “I’m not going to be the next head coach at LSU”

Oklahoma head football coach Lincoln Riley flatly denied Saturday night he is LSU’s next football coach.

Minutes after a tough 37-33 loss to Big 12 in-state rival Oklahoma State, Riley didn’t even allow SoonerScoop.com’s Carey Murdock to finish the question.

“Hold up, hold up, hold up, Carey,” Riley said. “I’m not going to be the next head coach at LSU. Next question.”

There has been spreading speculation that Riley was LSU’s No. 1 choice to take over for the fired Ed Orgeron. Such talk was dismissed until the last 24-48 hours where the rumor took on a life of its own and many people believed Riley was halfway out the door.

Riley cleared the air Saturday night.

“No concerns about our administration, our AD,. our president,” Riley said. “We’ve been through a lot together, this isn’t our first rodeo together. We always have conversations about the future and certainly with all that’s getting ready to… that’s changing right now in the college landscape, all that’s getting ready to change for us as at some point here we transition into a new conference, those are always conversations that we’re going to have and we would be having those yearly no matter what.

“All of us are trying to make this place better and make this program better. You don’t do that without working together, conversing with each other, so of course we’re going to continue to do that. We work well together and we’re going to continue to work well together.”
