Alex Box Stadium will host an NCAA Regional for a fifth straight postseason.

Whether LSU will receive a fifth consecutive national seed, well, that’ll be revealed along with the full field of 64 during the NCAA selection show at 11 a.m. Monday.

Baton Rouge was among the 16 regional host sites announced by the NCAA via twitter on Sunday night. Paul Mainieri and Co. secured hosting honors and thrusted themselves into serious contention for a top-eight seed by advancing into the SEC Tournament semifinals in Hoover this week.

The SEC claimed seven of the 16 host sites, with the others belonging to Florida, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

Baton Rouge also won’t be the only Louisiana city to play host to a regional. The Ragin Cajuns of UL-Lafayette also were among the 16.

For what it’s worth, according to the folks over at D1Baseball.com, LSU has done enough to land one of those coveted national seeds, which would ensure LSU’s road to Omaha running through the Box so long as the Tigers get out of the Regional.
