Les Miles is out. Ed Orgeron is in.

The former Ole Miss head coach and USC interim head coach will take over for the fired Miles immediately, LSU announced Sunday.

Orgeron, LSU’s defensive line coach, is 16-27 in his career as a college head coach. He went 6-2 as USC’s interim head coach in 2013. He joined LSU’s staff in 2015.

Filling in for Orgeron as defensive line coach is Pete Jenkins, a former LSU defensive line coach whom Orgeron hired at USC under similar circumstances. Jenkins has more than 40 years of experience at the college level.

Orgeron isn’t the only LSU assistant getting a promotion. Tight ends coach Steve Ensminger will assume offensive coordinator duties in the wake of Cam Cameron’s firing. Ensminger has previously served as offensive coordinator at Texas A&M and Clemson. Dameyune Craig will take over as recruiting coordinator, in addition to his current duties as wide receivers coach, and director of player personnel Austin Thomas becomes the program’s general manager, the first such position in college football.
