LSU gets commitment from JUCO defensive end Soni Fonua

LSU added another edge rusher to its ranks Sunday morning as Soni Fonua, a JUCO prospect out of Utah announced his commitment to the program via Twitter.

The commitment came at the close the final weekend of official visits before Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

Fonua stands 6-foo-4 and ways 264 pounds, and he is a native of Salt Lake City who played at Mesa Community College in Arizona.

He would be LSU’s second signee to be a native of Utah, joining defensive tackle Apu Ika who signed during the early signing period in December.

Fonua is a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, and he also received offers from Nebraska, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Hawaii and the now-Les Miles-coached Kansas.

LSU now has four remaining spots to fill on its roster come Wednesday.
