LSU receiver Jackson Harris went to the locker room with an apparent ankle injury during the third quarter of No. 22 LSU’s game against No. 16 Mississippi State Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

The junior transfer from Hawaii hauled in a 24-yard catch from quarterback Sam Leavitt on a third-and-11 play to the Bulldogs’ 3-yard line, but he limped into the medical tent after being tackled out of bounds. LSU Radio Network sideline reporter Gordy Rush said later the injury did not appear to be major, though Harris did not return to the blowout that LSU led 31-0 after three quarters.

Harris emerged from the tent without a boot or crutches and gingerly jogged into the locker room unassisted. He left as LSU’s leading receiver in the game with six catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns. The Tigers were unable to find the end zone following Harris’s exit and settled for a 26-yard field goal by Scott Starzyk to extend their lead to 24-0 with 6:45 to go in the third quarter.

Harris entered the contest as LSU’s second-leading receiver, catching 21 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns this season. Illinois junior transfer Malik Elzy replaced Harris at receiver and caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Leavitt for a 31-0 lead with 31 seconds to go before the fourth quarter.

Leavitt found Harris for a 27-yard touchdown and 14-0 lead with 3:27 to go in the first quarter and threw a 17-yard TD to him for a 21-0 lead with 6:12 to go in the first half. Harris finished the game with six catches for 85 yards and the two TDs.
