Nebraska is pushing it up the court hard to get LSU five-star football commitment Ahmad Hudson of Ruston High in Ruston to flip to the Cornhuskers.
Hudson (6-foot-6, 239 pounds) committed to LSU coach Lane Kiffin on May 3 as the No. 1 tight end in the nation, No. 3 player in Louisiana and No. 19 player in the nation. He also has said he wants to play basketball for the Tigers as he is also considered an elite basketball player.
But Nebraska may be more serious about the basketball end, Tigerbait.com writer Preston Guy told Tiger Rag Radio on Tuesday night.
“Nebraska wants him to be a part of the basketball team and is putting the money on the table,” Guy said. “LSU is more like, ‘We’ll allow you to do both,’ but I don’t think Will Wade (LSU basketball coach) is doling out NIL money for him when Will Wade knows his priority is going to be football.”
But Hudson, whose father is former LSU basketball guard Antonio Hudson, may be as serious about basketball as much as football.
“He wants to be a true dual athlete,” Guy said. “He likes the idea of forging his own path.”
The Hudson situation will be something LSU football coach Lane Kiffin and Wade have to keep an eye on.
But the game could be over concerning another five-star football target of LSU in No. 1 wide receiver Easton Royal of Brother Martin in New Orleans. Royal has canceled future visits to LSU and flipped his commitment from Texas to Florida over the weekend.
“His recruiting is shut down,” Guy said. “He had two visits scheduled to LSU. He’s not going to take either one of those. He’s done taking visits. And I’m sure at this point, there’s a financial arrangement that has him locked in. Part of the agreement probably is, ‘You cannot take another visit.'”
Word has Florida paying Royal between $1.6 and $2 million.
“It’s over, over,” Guy said. “You never say never in high school recruiting, but I believe this one is truly over. Easton Royal will play at least his first year in college in Gainesville.”
