LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt has had an up-and-down first season in Baton Rouge. The Arizona State transfer is second in the Southeastern Conference with 1,496 passing yards through six games. He ranks eighth with 10 passing touchdowns, fifth with a 67.6 completion percentage (117-of-173) and fifth in rushing touchdowns (seven). But he also leads the nation with eight interceptions and has made costly mistakes in LSU’s two losses to Ole Miss and Kentucky. Leavitt and the Tigers will need to be more consistent with little room for error the rest of the season.
He met with local media after practice on Tuesday to discuss how No. 22 LSU’s offense will respond and prepare to host No. 16 Mississippi State on Saturday (11 a.m., ESPN).
