LSU Linebacker Whit Weeks Broke His Leg In Win Over Texas A&M And May Miss Rest Of Season

LSU senior captain linebacker Whit Weeks is expected to miss most or all of the rest of the 2026 season after breaking his right leg, according to multiple reports, in the third quarter Saturday night in the Tigers’ 35-6 win over Texas A&M at Tiger Stadium.

Weeks at first hopped off the field after a play in the third quarter before spending about 10 minutes in the medical tent on the LSU sideline. He then walked on crutches into the LSU locker room.

“With Whit, I don’t have any update on that, but obviously didn’t look good when he walked off,” LSU coach Lane Kiffin said after the game Saturday night.

Kiffin may update Weeks injury at a zoom teleconference on Sunday afternoon.

Weeks is listed as a senior, but he could return for LSU in 2027 for his fifth season because of the new NCAA rule passed last June that gives college players who began their careers in 2026 a fifth season in five years. The previous rule allowed four seasons in five years. Weeks signed with LSU in 2023 out of Oconee County High in Watkinsville, Georgia. He started three games in 2023 before blossoming in the 2024 season when he finished No. 2 in the Southeastern Conference and No. 9 in the nation with 125 tackles and was named first team All-SEC.

But Weeks broke his ankle last September against Ole Miss and missed five games of the 2025 season.

Weeks was off to a strong start this season with a team-high 24 tackles, including 2.5 for loss and a quarterback hurry. He had four tackles with the hurry Saturday night before the injury.

An emotional leader of the Tigers, he has been a team captain since last season and was given the coveted No. 7 before this season along with tight end Trey’Dez Green, who was lost for multiple weeks this season with a knee injury suffered last week against Ole Miss.

Redshirt sophomore Tylen Singleton and sophomore Davhon Keys filled in for Weeks after his injury on Saturday night.

Since this season started, LSU has lost starting defensive back Dashawn Spears for the season with a knee injury and backup wide receiver Phillip Wright III with an unspecified injury. Spears played the all-important star position in LSU’s defense. He was injured last week at Ole Miss.

Before the season, the Tigers lost sophomore backup defensive tackle Gabriel Reliford and sophomore backup cornerback Aidan Anding for the season to injuries.
