United State Senator John Kennedy, the former Louisiana treasurer who grew up outside Baton Rouge in Zachary, is an LSU fan. But he is also a graduate of Vanderbilt and got his law degree from the University of Virginia and another degree from Oxford University in England – not at Ole Miss.

So when he speaks of LSU it is from a more broad-based view.

Kennedy was asked Tuesday on FOX News what his thoughts were on the SEC scheduling a vote on Thursday of its member leaders on whether or not to expell LSU from the conference. This concerns the SEC’s lawsuit against LSU for allegedly orchestrating an eligibility lawsuit against the NCAA to enable LSU to recruit, sign and play former NFL roster members. Two former Ole Miss players of LSU coach Lane Kiffin – tight end Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris – enrolled at LSU after being cut by the Cleveland Browns and Saints, respectively, last August. Kiffin did not put either on his roster and now does not plan to do so.

But the SEC is apparently moving on with plans to vote LSU possibly out of the SEC.

“How can I put this?” Kennedy said after pausing at the question. “That’s bone deep down to the marrow stupid. I’ve got rocks in my driveway that are smarter than that. They’re not going to throw LSU out of the SEC. Let me tell you something. I and a lot of other people in the U.S. Congress will be on them like a hobo on a ham sandwich. LSU hasn’t done anything wrong.”
