So, Former Twitter King Lane Kiffin Wants Editorial Control Over @LSUfootball On X?

LSU football coach Lane Kiffin quit tweeting back in May, and he sounded like he wishes @LSUfootball on X, which is the official Twitter account of the Tigers, would be more careful about what it tweets. Or at least check with him.

Some video of No. 1 quarterback Sam Leavitt was released over the weekend by @LSUfootball that showed Leavitt in Saturday’s first scrimmage planting hard on his former injured right foot, which required surgery last fall while he was at Arizona State. The video also shows the redshirt junior cutting and running in the scrimmage at Tiger Stadium. That video appears here on TikTok, but Leavitt (No. 10) enters the screen and exits very quickly, so pay attention:

Kiffin was asked about what the public had seen of Leavitt via the above video at his press conference on Monday.

“Yeah, I didn’t know we released those,” he said. “So I don’t know what’s on there. Don’t know that I’m happy about that.”

Kiffin was smiling when he said that. He likes how well Leavitt is moving after missing most of spring football as he recovered from the surgery. But Kiffin may not want all of LSU’s opponents to know this until the season starts, which is on Sept. 5 when the No. 11 Tigers host No. 23 Clemson in Tiger Stadium.

“The quarterback being out there every day and being fully healthy has made a big difference,” Kiffin said. “He’s moved great. We knew what kind of athlete he was, especially two years ago on film (before the right foot injury). He moves around great. Got out of a lot of trouble with some great pass rush (in the scrimmage) that came at him and some that came free on Saturday.”
