WAFB Channel 9 sports director Jacques Doucet was in Sacramento, California, over the weekend to cover the LSU women’s basketball team’s NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance and discussed that with vivid detail on Tiger Rag Radio Tuesday night.
“They just never really hit their stride, and when they did it was too late,” Doucet said of the Tigers’ gut wrenching, 87-84 loss to Duke at the buzzer on Friday night. “That’s a rough way for everything to come crashing to a thud.”
Duke went on to lose to UCLA, 70-58, on Sunday and miss the Final Four.
“Throughout the game, Duke outhustled LSU for some loose balls,” Doucet said. “That’s been going on all season really.”

Doucet also touched on new men’s basketball coach Will Wade’s introductory press conference on Monday and spring football. He also discussed former LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri’s exit from South Carolina and said it will not damage his legacy at LSU, which included the 2009 national title, a 2017 runner-up finish and four SEC regular season titles.
