LSU starting linebacker Whit Weeks is expected back at practice next week and will have a chance to play against Alabama on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Tiger Stadium after suffering a broken leg against Texas A&M on Sept. 26.

Weeks, a senior who became one of LSU’s top players in the 2024 season, broke his right fibula (shin area) against A&M and had surgery soon after. His recovery has gone quicker than expected, Tiger Rag has learned.

LSU coach Lane Kiffin hinted last Saturday after the win over Auburn that Weeks had a chance to return for the Alabama game, and his upcoming return to practice has been confirmed.

“Hopefully, we can get Whit back, so we can be the team that we put together for the most part,” Kiffin said.

No. 15 LSU (6-2, 3-2 SEC) hosts No. 10 Alabama (6-2, 4-2 SEC) at 2:30 p.m. a week from Saturday on ABC at Tiger Stadium.

Kiffin just got star tight end Trey’Dez Green back from a knee injury last week for the Auburn game. Green was not at 100 percent and was held to 50 snaps, but he caught five passes for 50 yards and a touchdown while also blocking well in the Tigers’ 38-17 win.

Weeks made the trip to the Auburn game after not being able to go to the Kentucky game on the road on Oct. 10.

“We couldn’t bring Whit to the road game before because of the travel and the rehab part,” Kiffin said. “But even having him around in the locker room without a uniform on, those guys are the heartbeat of the team. It just feels amazing because they both (Weeks and Green) would do anything for their team.”

Weeks has 23 tackles in four games this season with 10 solo stops, three quarterback hurries and one pass breakup. He missed five games last season with an ankle injury as he had 31 tackles in eight games with one sack, two other tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

In 2024, Weeks finished No. 2 in the SEC and No. 9 in the nation with 125 tackles and was a first team All-SEC player.
