LSU transfer wide receiver/tight end Roman Mothershed can’t wait to see starting tight end Trey’Dez Green play again on Saturday after missing the Tigers’ last four games with a knee injury. Even though, Green’s injury opened a door for Mothershed, who was moved to tight end three games ago.
Mothershed, a junior transfer from Troy, caught two passes for 56 yards with a 41-yard touchdown that put the Tigers ahead 27-24 in the fourth quarter at Kentucky on Oct. 10 in his second game at tight end. He has four catches on the season for 68 yards on the season.
But on Saturday at Auburn, Green is expected to return after not appearing on back-to-back LSU injury reports submitted to the Southeastern Conference office on Wednesday and Thursday. Green will likely be a frequent target for LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt when the No. 18 Tigers (5-2, 2-2 SEC) play at Auburn (4-2, 2-2 SEC) on Saturday (11 a.m., ABC).

That could mean fewer targets for Mothershed.
“We can’t wait,” Mothershed nevertheless said on the Lane Kiffin radio show on Thursday night. “To have Trey’Dez Green back, man, we can’t wait. C’mon.”
Kiffin, who appeared later on the show, said he likes the way Mothershed has filled in for Green.
“Trey’Dez Mothergreen, that’s what we call him,” Kiffin said. “He’s been really awesome the last three games.”
Kiffin also praised Green for his quick return from the knee injury at Ole Miss. Green got out of the knee brace quickly and has been on the sidelines in sweats for recent LSU games.
“You know how competitive he is,” Kiffin said. “He battled and got himself back even quicker than they thought he’d be back. He worked so hard, and he loves LSU so much.”
Green, a junior from Zachary High, caught 14 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown before his injury.
LSU freshman backup defensive tackle Richard Anderson was listed as out in Thursday’s injury report after being listed as doubtful on Wednesday with an injury. Auburn’s injury report remained the same as Wednesday. Backup offensive lineman Tai Buster and backup tight end Hunter Herring are both out, and backup defensive tackle Saint Farrior is questionable.
Starting linebacker Xavier Atkins is also out as he was dismissed from the team this week.
