Beckwith, who went to Parkview Baptist High in Baton Rouge, played at LSU from 2005-08 and started 34 games from 2006-08. When the Tigers won the national championship in the 2007 season, Beckwith was a second team All-Southeastern Conference linebacker as he made 65 tackles with 6.5 for loss.
So far, LSU’s defense has suffocated two opponents – Clemson and Louisiana Tech. But the Tigers and defensive coordinator Blake Baker face their toughest test of the season so far on Saturday when No. 7 LSU (2-0) plays at No. 8 Ole Miss (2-0) at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
Tiger Rag Radio’s first guest at 6:30 p.m. will be the voice of the LSU pressbox – Baton Rouge attorney James Manasseh, who has done the play-by-play for the media since the 1980s. Manasseh’s father was Paul Manasseh, who was LSU’s sports information director from 1971-83 and is a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
Joining Tiger Rag at 7:30 p.m. will be Ole Miss beat writer Sam Hutchens of the Clarion-Ledger newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi. Hutchens just wrote a piece comparing Kiffin’s return to his former coaching job at Ole Miss on Saturday to other coaches doing the same thing, such as Alabama coach Nick Saban, who returned to the site of his previous college head coaching job at LSU in the 2008 season.
Tiger Rag Radio is hosted by Louisiana Radio Network’s Jeff Palermo and Todd Horne and Glenn Guilbeau of Tiger Rag. The show is produced by Kace Kieschnick of LRN and Tiger Rag.
