Sam Leavitt, The Nation’s Top Transfer Quarterback, To Visit LSU On Monday

Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt, the No. 1 overall prospect and No. 1 quarterback in the NCAA Transfer Portal by 247sports.com, was expected at LSU on Monday afternoon.

With No. 2 portal quarterback Brendan Sorsby of Cincinnati committing to Texas Tech over LSU on Monday, LSU coach Lane Kiffin and staff are pushing hard for Leavitt, who had been targeted several weeks ago.

Leavitt, a West Linn, Oregon native, completed 361 of 589 passes for 4,513 yards with 34 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Leavitt also rushed for 749 yards on 183 carries and 10 touchdowns in two seasons at Arizona State. He completed 216 of 350 passes for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions in 2024.

Leavitt’s 2025 season with the Sun Devils lasted just seven games because of a foot injury that required surgery. He initially hurt his foot against Baylor on September 20, but then reaggravated it against Houston on October 25. In seven starts, he completed 145 of 239 passes for 1,628 yards and 10 TDs with three interceptions. The injury is expected to make him miss spring practice, but he is expected to be ready by the start of August practdice.

Leavitt visited Kentucky and new coach Will Stein on Friday.

Leavitt attended West Linn High School in Oregon and started his career at Michigan State in 2023. Leavitt was a consensus four-star recruit as the No. 18 quarterback in the country and No. 2 player in Oregon in 2023.
