Ten former Tigers invited to NFL Combine

Ten former Tigers, including a couple of relative surprises, were invited to participate in the 2018 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, according to a participant list released by the league Tuesday morning.

The usual suspects landed invitations, like edge rusher Arden Key and running back Derrius Guice, two potential first-round picks, as well as cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver and offensive linemen Will Clapp and Toby Weathersby. Wide receiver DJ Chark and running back Darrel Williams also landed invites off strong Senior Bowl showings.

Less expected were the invitations extended to quarterback Danny Etling and offensive lineman K.J. Malone, a pair of seniors who didn’t seem likely to end up in Indianapolis. That can only help their chances of catching on an NFL roster or practice squad.

There were a couple of surprising snubs, as well. Defensive linemen Greg Gilmore and Christian LaCouture were left off the invite list despite playing in the Senior Bowl last month.

LSU was tied with Georgia for the third most invites by any program. Only Alabama (14) and Ohio State (11) had more.

Here’s the workout schedule for the NFL Combine:

» Friday, Mar 2: RB, OL, PK, ST
» Saturday, Mar 3: QB, WR, TE
» Sunday, Mar 4: DL, LB
» Monday, Mar 5: DB
