Mayan Kiir will not return to LSU next season

Freshman forward Mayan Kiir will not return to LSU next season, Will Wade announced at a press conference Monday.

Wade placed Kiir on a leave of absence earlier this season. The first-year player signed with LSU after first signing with Wade at VCU.

“He will not be a member of our team next year,” Wade said Monday.

Kiir appeared in eight games, averaging 1.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 5.4 minutes per game.

A 6-foot-9 forward, Kiir prepped at Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton, Fla. where he averaged  13.4 points and 8.2 rebounds and also had averages of 2.3 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.2 steals.

Along with fellow freshman Galen Alexander, Kiir was placed on a leave of absence before LSU’s trip to Tennessee in January.
