LSU to open “The Yard” selling beer and wine at Alex Box Stadium

Having a beer at a ballgame is as American as apple pie. LSU fans without the benefit of suite tickets are going to be able to indulge this season.

LSU announced Monday that it would be opening “The Yard” at Alex Box Stadium as a way to sell beer and wine.

The tented areas will open in the right and left field corners. The locations will open two hours before first pitch with alcohol sales cut off at the end of the seventh inning.

The Yard at Alex Box Stadium will operate in much the same way as “The Chute” at Tiger Stadium. Fans ages 21 and over can purchase a wristband at either location or near the grandstand entrance gates. The wristband is $20 and includes two beverages.

Additional beverages can be purchased inside the premium area starting at $6. Fans who purchase a wristband will have access to both locations.

Due to Southeastern Conference rules, all beverages must be consumed in the area.

LSU is set to open the season on Friday against ULM. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
