LSU moves into top five in 2019 class rankings after landing fifth commitment of the week

LSU currently has a top-five recruiting class for 2019, according to 247Sports, after picking up a fifth commitment in as many days.

Three-star cornerback Cordale Flott flipped from Auburn to LSU on Sunday morning after spending the weekend camped in Baton Rouge, making him the fifth player to give Ed Orgeron and Co. a verbal pledge since Wednesday. Flott is ranked as the No. 1 cornerback in the 2019 cycle, per 247Sports.

Now standing at 17 commitments, LSU is presently No. 3 in the 247Sports class rankings for 2019. Only Alabama and Texas A&M remain ahead of the Tigers at this point.

The run started with the resounding news that LSU landed five-star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., the No. 1 prospect in the nation according to Rivals. LSU then landed four-star quarterback Patrick Parrish out of Alabama on Friday afternoon. LSU landed both Parrish and Flott out of Alabama.

Between those two commitments, LSU landed a pair of junior college prospects. Copiah-Lincoln Community College tight end TK McClendon committed on Friday night and Eastern Arizona CC defensive back Dreshun Miller joined the class on Saturday. According to 247Sports, Miller is the No. 3 JUCO cornerback prospect in the country and the No. 9 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

LSU is continuing to beef up its cornerback depth chart by adding Stingley, Miller and Flott to a 2019 that already includes four-star Maurice Hampton of Memphis and three-star Marcus Banks of Houston. That comes one year after not signing a true cornerback in 2018.
