After a season consulting LSU’s special teams units, Greg McMahon will join the staff full time as special teams coordinator, the program announced Friday.

“Coach McMahon brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area of special teams to our staff,” Ed Orgeron said in a release. “He’s had success at the highest level of football, helping the Saints win a Super Bowl, and I know that with Greg working daily with our special teams, we will show marked improvement.”

McMahon served as an analyst for LSU’s special teams in 2017, coaching the coaches who split the duties of coordinating LSU’s special teams. He spent 11 years in the same role with the Saints.

“It’s an honor to work at LSU and it’s an honor to be part of Coach Orgeron’s staff,” McMahon said. “This is one of the top programs in the country and I can’t wait to get started.”
