Kardell Thomas shuts down his recruitment: “110 percent a Tiger”

Five-star 2019 offensive lineman Kardell Thomas announced he’s shutting down his recruitment for good on Monday night.

The Baton Rouge native and Southern Lab star committed to LSU over the summer but continued to take visits throughout the fall. The offers have rolled in from all of the nation’s elite programs, but Thomas announced he’s ‘110 percent a Tiger” after spending the weekend on campus for LSU’s Elite Junior Day.

“Thanks to all the schools that recruited me,” Thomas wrote in a Twitter post. “But home is where the heart is. I put this city on my back and it’s mine, so why not work to bring Baton Rouge a National Championship.”

Thomas is the highest-rated of six commitments LSU holds for the 2019 class, and the Tigers are presently No. 4 in the 247Sports Composite Class Rankings. He’s ranked as the No. 1 offensive guard in the class of 2019.

Locking up Thomas for the long haul is a continuation of the emphasis on recruiting in the trenches that began with the 2018 class. LSU signed four offensive linemen, including a pair of JUCO players, during the Early Signing Period.
