OMAHA, Neb. — Reports of Eric Walker’s demise were greatly exaggerated.

The freshman right-hander is “100 percent healthy” and will start on Monday against either Oregon State or Cal State Fullerton, LSU announced Saturday afternoon.

With Walker good to go, senior lefty Jared Poche’ will be available for the Tigers out of the bullpen against Florida State if his efforts are needed in relief.

LSU coach Paul Mainieri told a group of reporters Friday that Walker was experience forearm soreness after throwing an intra-squad game on Tuesday night. At no point was he injured, but Mainieri said it’d put uncertainty into his pitching plan if the freshman needed an extra day or two of rest.

LSU planned to have to throw Saturday morning to see how he feels, and apparently he won’t need additional rest after all. Walker is 8-1 this season with a 3.46 ERA.
