Donte Jackson selected by Carolina Panthers in second round

A Tiger is finally off the board, but probably not the LSU player you expected to go first.

The Carolina Panthers selected cornerback Donte Jackson in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night. The speedster was selected with the No. 55 overall pick.

Jackson, who ran the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, was a two-year starter at LSU. He made one interception and played outside cornerback, nickel back and safety for the Tigers last season.

With a chance to compete for immediate playing time, Jackson is one more Tiger defender to be drafted into the NFC South. He’ll see the New Orleans Saints twice a year for the foreseeable future.
