TR columnist discusses his preseason Top 25

Scott Rabalais began covering LSU sports more than two decades ago, including a long stint at The Advocate that ended in the summer of 2008. Tiger Rag is fortunate to have his insight, which he brings to bear as a featured columnist for the magazine.

He also shares his opinions from time to time on Tiger Rag Radio, and Tuesday night he visited with co-hosts Ben Love and Jeff Palermo. They talked about the preseason Top 25 column Rabalais wrote for the Tiger Rag 2010 Football Preview (see the center square on our home page).

During the show, Rabalais talked about the gap between the SEC’s elite teams, Alabama and Florida, and the next tier of teams in the conference worth ranking in the Top 25. He discussed Boise State and its chances of living up to a high preseason ranking — and perhaps even playing in the BCS National Championship Game.

What about North Carolina? Is this a team with a stout defense and no offense? Are we looking at a low-scoring game in Atlanta to start the season?

Rabalais also talked about LSU’s schedule, home and away. Is Arkansas the opposite of North Carolina, with a solid offense and no defense?
