As expected and previously mentioned on TigerRag.com weeks ago, five-star prospect Craig Loston committed to LSU.
The Aldine (Texas)-Eisenhower High School product proved all of the speculation to be correct on Friday afternoon during the Burger King High School All-America Skills Challenge at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. The talented safety revealed Baton Rouge would be his future home for the next four years, choosing the Tigers over Texas A&M.
Loston’s pledge to the Tigers brings LSU’s commitment total to 21 while drastically improving its overall team ranking.
Loston is the nation’s No. 1 rated safety by Rivals.com and ESPN.com. He is the No. 8 overall prospect in the ESPN Top 150.
Originally committed to Clemson, Loston changed his mind when coach Tommy Bowden was dismissed six games into the 2008 season. The cousin of LSU commitment and ESPN’s No. 1 overall prospect Russell Shepard, it was widely considered Loston would choose LSU as his college home.
There was speculation two months ago that Loston had committed to the Tigers, but he never made his plans public. On the Tiger Rag Radio Show back in October, Shepard guaranteed “Loston would be a Tiger.”
