One of the few remaining prospects that shares mutual interest with the Tigers is Carver High School (Ga.) product Darren Myles Jr.
The four-star prospect’s name has been atop the LSU recruiting board since the very beginning and it appears it will remain that way until signing day.
TigerRag.com caught up with Myles for an update on Tuesday evening while he was in Orlando preparing for the Under Armour All-American Bowl.
“I just here (Orlando) today,” Myles informed. “I’m on my way to the players lounge right now and tomorrow will be my first day at practice.
“It feels good being a part of this,” Myles added. “It’s going to be cool to see the top players play and to also get the chance to compete against the top players in the country.”
Myles will look to defend his defensive backfield against strong-arm quarterback Matt Barkley (USC commit). Myles claimed Barkley already knows what not to do.
“He knows not to throw it my way (just like the quarterbacks I went against in high school),” Myles stated with confidence.
Myles owned the defensive backfield while playing in high school as he tallied 10 interceptions over the previous two seasons before opposing quarterbacks discovered throwing his way was not the best of ideas. Myles picked off just one pass during his senior season due to the lack of balls thrown in his direction and he claimed it was time to face tougher competition.
“It hasn’t really hit me yet,” Myles responded when asked to describe how it felt to have played in his final high school game. “I know it is just over with, that’s all. It was getting kind of easy anyway.
“I’m not going to miss having my dad as my coach though,” Myles joked. “He was always hard on me and he knew he could put his hands on me and try to rough me up!”
Which man will replace the role of Darren Myles Sr. as a coach remains to be seen.
“I never did say anyone was in the lead,” Myles confirmed. “Right now I’m deciding out of four teams: LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, and West Virginia. I’ll make my decision on Signing Day.”
