Coach Les Miles and his staff picked up a commitment earlier in the week from 4-star JUCO defensive lineman Akiem Hicks and on Tuesday evening they added another as Fair Park High School (Shreveport) product Morris Claiborne (6′1, 185) pulled the trigger.
Prior to LSU’s offer coming in on Tuesday, Claiborne possessed just a handful of offers from schools such as Texas A&M, Tulane, Nebraska, and Louisiana Tech. Part of the problem is Claiborne serves as the quarterback for his team, but is being recruited as a corner back/receiver.
With that said, Claiborne did not disappoint as a gunslinger this season as he rushed for 1,023 yards, passed for 1,009 yards, and scored 30 times. Judging by those numbers it is obvious Claiborne has the skills to do it all and perhaps that is why coach Miles extended the athlete an offer.
The last two LSU commitments have come as a surprise to some as there was not much public discussion concerning the two prior to their commitments. However, what is discussed inside of the coaches office, behind closed doors, is clearly a different story.
Tiger Rag is in the process of catching up Claiborne. Check back later for more details…
